My husband is a "recovering" porn addict. He attends on-line "meetings" every night -- sometimes for as long as 4 hours. This leaves little time for anything else. While my husband will take time for anyone in his "group", I am not permitted to even email him. I do not know what to do next. HELP!

I don't know what to tell you about this. The way you present this, what he is online doing sounds a little suspect, but it could all be legitimate. Most support groups of this nature have a policy that you don't discuss what happens during the meetings, or if you do to make sure that you keep privacy a top priority. Even if it is a legitimate online recovery group, 4 hours every night is overkill. Most groups meet once a week for 60 to 90 minutes. If you need to, sometimes they pair off people in the group that can talk and support each other during the week between meetings. Legitimate or not, if you and your husband don't have anytime together he needs to think harder about how to organize his time. Quality and healthy time spent with your spouse is a big part of recovery.

One other thing I've seen with people in recovery groups is that they become a "helper." They get overly, almost obsessively, involved in trying to help all of the others in the group to get better in order to avoid helping themselves. This isn't necessarily a conscious decision, but it can be a very self destructive one. I'm not saying that this is the case with your husband, but it's something to consider while trying to understand what's going on with your husband.

This is what I know, but I can't, and shouldn't tell you what to do. You'll need to decide what to do about the situation.
